A Heart, a New start: The Power of Prayer

It has been seven years since moving to Akron, Ohio. ThePrayer Ministry was nonexistent in our little Akron Bethel SDA church at this time, the “furnace of Prayer” needed to be installed and the fire lit so that the God we serve could do His work in the lives of its members. Our Prayer Ministry in our church was activated because we had a serious request that needed action straight from the throne room of heaven. “God calls upon all, both preachers and people, to awake. All heaven is astir. The scenes of earth’s history are fast closing. We are amid the perils of the last days. Greater perils are before us, and yet we are not awake. This lack of activity and earnestness in the cause of God is dreadful. This death stupor is from Satan.” (Testimonies for the Church 1:260, 261). Our church brother needed a new heart, he brings to mind Ezekiel 36:26 NIV “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh,” that means that someone would have to die to surrender his heart to this other son of God.

How should we pray. We asked the Lord to work out His will in this matter for both persons belong to Him. As a group of intercessors, we were in a dilemma. So, we asked God to work things out so that His name would be glorified. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God.” After five years of praying 8:00am and 8:00pm daily for a breakthrough, the answer finally came. A heart was found, will it match! Will the body accept or reject this new heart! Yes, it matched, the body accepted the new heart. What a day that was and daily we watched his progress. Many tears were shed, many prayers were said as we watched the heavenly Physician at work through the earthly physicians. This son of God has used his experience to bring hope and courage to others that were going through and/or still going through the same experience that he has had.

He has expanded his prayer ministry to many others who desperately need the same great Physician that he has. He is called a man of faith as he walked the halls of the hospital. He is called upon to give courage and strength to those who were wrestling with doubts, fears and pain, he is called upon to pray for and with others. This young man has taken his experience to the streets of Akron, Ohio and is bringing hope and courage to hundreds of people fighting for their lives.

Many procedures and tests had to be done. Careful and watchful eyes were kept on this son of God. At times he
felt that he was not going to make it, but with the heavenly watchers every day brought new hope, new healing and new courage. The earthly physicians were busy under the
watchful eyes of the great Physician. This healed son of God is able to walk others in similar situations through the rough spots in their lives. He is able to bring Jesus very near to them and even have them walk with him in the footsteps of a living Savior who is still in the healing business. If you are ever in the Akron, Ohio area, you may end up in the Taxi of this man of God who is still experiencing the miraculous power of God through prayer.

He walks or drives every day in the power of the God with whom he has a saving relationship He experiences the
Presence of God on a moment by moment basis. He is not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. He proclaims loudly what Jesus has done for him. He will share literature with you that will lead you to the foot of the cross where you yourself can receive healing. He will remind you that you
are not walking alone, that God iswith you every step of the way.
